My Yoga Journey: From Shenzhen to Montreal

In 2014, my journey with yoga began in Shenzhen, China. What started as a simple step into a yoga class soon blossomed into a profound exploration of self-discovery and healing. Little did I know that this initial curiosity would evolve into a lifelong passion and calling.

Guidance and Inspiration

During my journey, I was fortunate to have a mentor named Shiyi, whose wisdom and guidance were pivotal. He recognized potential in me as a teacher and imparted invaluable lessons about strength, courage, and the essence of wholehearted teaching. Although our time together was brief, his influence was profound and inspired me to share the transformative benefits of yoga with others.

Embracing Challenges and Growth

Like any meaningful path, mine was not without its challenges. However, the wisdom and resilience I gained through my practice helped me navigate these obstacles. My quest for knowledge led me to explore various healing practices for both body and mind, reinforcing the importance of personal wellness for effective teaching.

Deepening My Practice

In 2019, I took a significant step in my yoga journey by enrolling in a 500-hour yoga teacher training program at the esteemed Naada Yoga studio in Montreal, Canada. This immersive training expanded my understanding of yoga far beyond the physical postures. I explored asanas, meditation, anatomy, pranayama, and the rich philosophy of yoga. This experience revealed that yoga is not just a practice but a holistic way of life.

The Transformative Power of Motherhood

Motherhood exposed me to the incredible strength and endurance required to navigate pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. These experiences deepened my appreciation for yoga as a tool for recovery, self-care, and reconnection. I learned that yoga encompasses more than just physical postures; it embodies the resilience and strength of the human body and spirit.

Continued Education and Specializations

After the birth of my beautiful baby girl, I felt a strong desire to continue my education to offer even better services to my clients. I completed an 85-hour prenatal yoga training, which equipped me with specialized knowledge to support expecting and new mothers. Additionally, I pursued Animal Flow training, a dynamic practice that integrates ground-based, bodyweight movements inspired by yoga, gymnastics, and animal movements. This innovative approach enhances strength, mobility, and coordination through a creative and functional workout.

Yoga Beyond the Mat

My journey has taught me that yoga extends far beyond the mat. It’s a way of living that fosters inner peace and contentment, not only in our bodies but also in our minds. Through mindful asanas, the tranquility of meditation, and the wisdom of yoga philosophy, we unlock doors to self-awareness and meaningful experiences. Yoga becomes a constant reminder of the significance of each moment, infusing our lives with joy and purpose.

With love and gratitude,

Anna Chen

Contentment is not a feeling of accomplishment from doing something.

Contentment is a practice.
